Oh, this is swell (so to speak). I’m now 20 lbs heavier than my mother at her fattest.

It wouldn’t be so annoying if I had a recent past of burgers and beer to blame it on, but I’ve been on a very restrictive diet for three months. I know they don’t work in the long term, but I had thought that, short-term, it’d be worth a shot even if all I lost was water weight. It appears that, despite 600-800 calories per day, I have become hydrophilic and should not walk outside in the rain, lest I balloon to 300 lbs. This is not physically possible, even for a woman my age, given normal biology, which means my biology is abnormal, which is always something I like to hear.

I had to bail on my friend’s house party on Bowen Island because of a bizarre combination of things that said GET TO A HOSPITAL so I went to a hospital and they asked me very seriously why I thought that having three periods in one month wasn’t reason to get a doctor’s appointment but instead left it so long I was actually low in blood because I’d been bleeding that much, and I didn’t have a good answer. They said they’re going to bump up my ultrasound that was scheduled for the 14th, but as I don’t have a phone they’ll have to phone my neighbor who will have to stick a note under my door, and that’s IF she answers her phone, which she frequently does not do. What I expect is that they’ll find the fibroids we noticed years ago have gone ballistic and will have to be taken out, and I also expect that the workout I did on Tuesday/Wednesday night, which was a killer, had something to do with this last iteration, as it came on within a few hours and was accompanied by a very bruised feeling inside, near my right hip.

If I’m lucky, they’re just fibroids. But I am not lucky, generally speaking. It’d sure be nice to be able to eat more than a bowl of cereal and a bowl of soup every day, and now that I know no diet will help me, I guess I can.

Yesterday I walked up Lonsdale to Dale’s place, although I had to stop and rest twice. I should probably seek out hill-walking sites to practice on, as it’s just as tough as running on the cv system and much less hard on the joints, etc.

Thinking do I work out here or don’t I?The gallery is stuffed with Polyfilla and paint and probably will be for the next several days. Put the wedge in the doorway and aircon on? I suppose I’ll live through it; can’t exercise outside my place without waking people up. Got to take it easy for at least a week, I think.
